South Silk Road: Authentic Yunnan Province Cuisine

Despite being nearly a decade since I’ve been back to China I still have fond and vivid memories of the cuisine. And once in a while I find a restaurant that is able to bring those memories back in full force. A restaurant like South Silk Road.

Nothing against North Americanized food court Chinese food. But I wouldn’t brave icy roads and winter storms for that stuff.

Gangnam Street: Street Food without being in Korea

Street food is a difficult thing to consistently get in Edmonton. Possibly because half the time our city is literally frozen and it hurts to go outside. Fortunately Gangnam Street is now a restaurant that exists, allowing us to enjoy authentic Korean street food without having to brave the cold.

Or fly all the way to Korea. That part is also nice.

XO Bistro: Modern Asian Fusion

It’s rare to find a fusion restaurant that respects all parts of what’s being fused together. XO Bistro has been able to create dishes that are better than the sum of their parts, that both look and taste great.

There is nothing boring. No concerns of dishes being half thought out. Just a respect for the food and doing justice to the culture.
